Campers enjoy favorite activities such as sprinkler play, cooking simple snacks, and building in the sandbox. Campers bring their own lunch daily.

When school’s out for summer, the Eagle Adventure begins! We’re excited to offer Eagle Adventure, a fun-filled summer camp experience designed especially for students entering 1st grade. Through weekly themed adventures, campers will explore, create, and connect while building friendships and lasting memories at Catlin Gabel. Eagle Adventure weekly themed day camps spark curiosity, engagement, creativity, socialization, and community inclusion through hands-on, joyful learning. Campers will enjoy a variety of activities including art, science, materials exploration, outdoor play, a weekly field trip (bus transportation provided) and/or a special guest program visit(s) on the Catlin Gabel Campus.

Learn the Olympic Sport of Fencing

This half-day camp runs from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Learn the basic tactical and technical skills of the Olympic sport of saber fencing. Like a physical game of chess, this dynamic sport offers challenges to quick thinking (and improves coordination, strength, and agility). Fun games are incorporated while learning footwork, drills, and safety. Equipment is assigned to each individual on the first day, including a mask, gloves, jacket and saber. Please wear comfortable clothes.

Campers will prepare delicious dishes like crêpes, galettes, Belgian waffles, fried bananas, and tire sur la neige while exploring Francophone flavors such as couscous and tagine. Daily French lessons are designed for beginners and those with some experience, and language learning comes alive through games, songs, recipes, and real-life use. Campers will travel through France, Belgium, Québec, North Africa, and Martinique—all without leaving campus. No French experience required—just bring your appetite and energy!

Trailblazers: PNW Adventures

This hiking camp is designed for students who are eager to explore the outdoors and build confidence on the trail. Throughout the week, campers will hike to waterfalls, forests, and scenic viewpoints within an hour of Portland while learning about Pacific Northwest ecology, geology, and local history. Daily guided hikes are paired with hands-on learning in locations such as Forest Park, Silver Falls State Park, Horsetail Falls, Cape Horn, and Hamilton Mountain. Campers will develop hiking skills, practice trail safety, identify plants and geological features, and build teamwork and environmental stewardship.

Model Rocket Lab

In this hands-on engineering camp, campers investigate how structures respond to powerful natural forces like earthquakes and tsunamis. Campers design and build buildings and bridges, then test their strength and stability using a shake table. They also construct boats and coastal structures, experimenting with buoyancy and weight to see how designs perform in simulated water conditions. Using materials such as balsa wood, dowels, bamboo skewers, popsicle sticks, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, and found materials from home, campers explore basic principles of architecture and engineering while creating sturdy, innovative designs.

From Blank Page to Confident Writer: Teen Workshop

Gymnastics Movement and Education Camp

Campers try out various gymnastics equipment and learn basic fundamentals on all the traditional apparatus including bars, beam, and trampoline. We’ll learn about the history of the sport and the technical differences between men’s and women’s gymnastics. We’ll watch clips of Olympic performances as well as young competitive gymnasts for inspiration. Camp includes gymnastics-themed crafts to take home, and at the end of the week students will perform a routine that they helped choreograph!

In Miniature Worlds, campers design and build their own tiny rooms or houses from the ground up. They create miniature furniture, weave rugs, sew bedding, and add imaginative details using a variety of materials. Campers learn basic construction and crafting techniques while developing patience and attention to detail. This camp uses tools such as hot glue guns under careful supervision.

Campers use vibrant polymer clay to create custom charms, pendants, rings, earrings, and bracelets. They sculpt original designs, use molds, and incorporate natural materials like leaves and flowers. Gymnastics Movement and Education Camp

Campers try out various gymnastics equipment and learn basic fundamentals on all the traditional apparatus including bars, beam, and trampoline. We’ll learn about the history of the sport and the technical differences between men’s and women’s gymnastics. We’ll watch clips of Olympic performances as well as young competitive gymnasts for inspiration. Camp includes gymnastics-themed crafts to take home, and at the end of the week students will perform a routine that they helped choreograph!

Learn the Olympic Sport of Fencing

This half-day camp runs from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Learn the basic tactical and technical skills of the Olympic sport of saber fencing. Like a physical game of chess, this dynamic sport offers challenges to quick thinking (and improves coordination, strength, and agility). Fun games are incorporated while learning footwork, drills, and safety. Equipment is assigned to each individual on the first day, including a mask, gloves, jacket, and saber. Please wear comfortable clothes.
