COVID-19 Protocols

In response to the changing COVID-19 environment, Catlin Gabel has adjusted school protocols as needed to meet state and local requirements and to support the health and wellness of our community, and we will continue to do so.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements

Catlin Gabel currently requires all employees, contract workers, and volunteers who work directly with children, as well as students, to be vaccinated against COVID-19 for the 2022-23 school year.

For those who are 5 and up: Fully vaccinated means receiving the initial shot of COVID-19 vaccination series before school begins (one of two shots for Pfizer or Moderna and one for Johnson and Johnson) and completing the series by October 17.

For those who are 4 and under: The same protocols apply as above. Those who take the Pfizer vaccine need to have received the third dose by December 16.

Exemptions continue to be permitted. All employees and students are required to submit proof of vaccination status through the employee and parent/guardian portals. Additional boosters, as recommended by the CDC and OHA are strongly encouraged, but will not be tracked by the school. If health authority vaccination recommendations change, the school reserves the right to adjust health and safety policies.

Wearing Masks

Catlin Gabel community members and visitors are invited to wear masks while on campus or participating in school activities, but they are no longer required. The only location where masks are required is our “Health Hub,” which is mandated by the Oregon Health Authority for all health spaces. Please also see our protocols if you or someone in your household test positive for COVID-19, as masks are required for a limited period of time. The school also reserves the right to return to masking should school or local conditions change.

Ventilation

All Catlin Gabel ventilation systems meet or exceed the requirements of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, and the CDC. Our central air units and ductless air conditioners have the highest-rated filters available.

COVID-19 Exposure Management

For the 2022-23 year, the school has developed a series of campus protocols for positive cases and exposure management. Details can be viewed in our Covid-19 Management Plan.
