Before and After School Program

Catlin Gabel families with students in preschool to 5th grade can choose a range of before or after school options. The Middle School also offers supervision for 6-8th graders.

Our Extended Learning Program offers licensed before- and after-school care to families, with a 10:1 student-teacher ratio for preschool and kindergartners and 15:1 ratio for first through fifth graders. We have an easy online system for families to register and pay for Extended Learning.

Before-SCHOOL

Before-School is available to all Beginning and Lower School families at no charge. Doors open at 7:20 a.m., and the program is designed to help students ease into a busy school day. When the morning bell rings, preschool and kindergarten students are walked to their classroom and signed in by a teaching assistant. Students in first grade and above walk to their classroom doors to start their day.

After-SCHOOL

After-School is offered each school day until 6 p.m. Students have time to unwind through open-ended play, exploration of nature, and organized projects and games. Students are given nut-free snacks that meet family dietary needs. Families can secure placement when they sign-up for two, three, four, or five days a week.

Drop-In DAYS

Families can reserve specific days on an as-needed basis through our online system and drop-in for either Before-School or After-School. 

Day CAMPS

We provide all-day activities from 8:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. when Beginning and Lower School classes are not in session during parent-teacher conferences. Each camp includes themed activities on campus, as well as a field trip or on-campus workshop. Families who sign-up for After-School on an annual basis are eligible for a discounted rate and early-bird registration.

Program Costs

Our scheduled rates vary by season and are adjusted to the number of school days in the designated time period. For each term, charges may be divided into monthly payments.

In recent years, prices have ranged from $500 (2 days a week, spring term) to $1,750 (5 days a week, fall term).

Options for Middle School Students

Our Middle School provides a supervised space after the regular school day ends for all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. 

After-School study hall

All Middle School students who are on campus after 3:45 p.m. are expected to check-in at the designated location in the Middle School if they are not participating in other supervised activities, such as athletics. There is a supervised space to complete homework, read a book, or connect with peers. Students must be picked up by 6 p.m. There is no cost for the after-school study hall.
