“This is a school with imagination, and the will to turn those dreams into reality.”
Tim Bazemore’s vision is to provide every student with a top-tier academic education, and lessons in character and integrity that they carry with them throughout their lives. “We can leverage our historic excellence, our commitment to inquiry and experience, and our independence, to reimagine how we can be even better,” he says.
“Catlin Gabel is a school that is successful by any measure, and our challenge now is to build on that success.”
Tim received a B.A. in History from Middlebury College and an M.A. in History from the University of Pennsylvania. He began his career in education at Chestnut Hill Academy in Philadelphia, where he spent 17 years, starting as a Middle and Upper School Humanities teacher, moving into the role of Director of Middle and Upper School Admission, and finally serving as Head of Middle School for seven years. He then spent 14 years as Head of School at New Canaan Country School, a PS-9 coeducational school in New Canaan, Connecticut.
Tim has been Head of School at Catlin Gabel since 2014. In this role he has led the school on diversity and inclusion efforts, elevated the school’s work on environmental sustainability, recruited top education professionals, and established a long-term Strategic Plan to enhance and improve the educational experience for generations of students. As part of his commitment to the future of the school, he has initiated and guided a campus master plan that will make a Catlin Gabel education available to more students, enhance learning technologies, improve facilities, and foster experiential learning across all grades.
“Our goal is to create vivid, powerful learning experiences for students,” Tim says.
“We want students to be able to take a skill or knowledge that they’ve developed here and apply it out in the community. We want to ensure that, because of their experience here, they’re ready to make a positive contribution to the world.”
