Champions! CG swim teams excel at State

Capping off a strong season, the Catlin Gabel girls swim team won the OSAA State Championship February 21 and 22 at Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation District Swim Center, and the boys team took home the 8th place team trophy. Both teams competed in the 4A/3A/2A/1A division.

With both teams combined, they earned six first-place finishes and four meet records.

The girls team earned a total score of 78, surpassing Sweet Home (65), LaGrande (49), and Marist Catholic (21). The team had individual event champions in Akira van de Groenendaal, Eva Carlson (x2), Lizzy Cook (x2) and the 400 Freestyle Relay with Alyssa Sanchez, Defne Alpay, Greta Bogdanki, and Lizzy Cook.

Girls 200 relay: 2nd place

Girls 200 free: 5th place - Defne Alpay

Girls 200 individual medley: 1st place - 2:04.93 - new meet record - Eva Carlson

Boys 200 individual medley: 1st place - 1:57.78 - Akira van de Groenendaal

Girls 50 Free: 1st place - 23.09- new meet record - Lizzy Cook

Girls 100 Fly: 3rd place - Alyssa Sanchez

Girls 100 Free – 1st place - 49.81- new meet record - Lizzy Cook

Girls 100 Free: 5th place - Greta Bogdanski

Girls 500 Free: 4th place- Defne Alpay

Girls 200 relay: 2nd place

Boys 100 back: 2nd place - Akira van de Groenendaal

Girls 100 Breast: 3rd place - Greta Bogdanski

Girls 100 Breast: 6th place - Katherine Chang

Girls 100 Breast: 1st place - 1:02.60 - new meet record - Eva Carlson

Girls 400m relay: 1st place - 3:39.84
