Tennis - Varsity Girls
2018 Season Re-cap
We had a strong, successful season this year. Eighteen Varsity and ten Junior Varsity girls played tennis for Catlin. We won eight league matches and lost four. Our number one doubles team (Hannah and Rachel Y.) lost only once during league play and was undefeated in district competition, finishing as District doubles champions. Our number one singles player (Aarushi P.) lost only once in league play and finished in third place at Districts. As a team, we placed second in league competition and were second at the district tournament. At State, our doubles team took third place, and as a team we finished in fourth place. Our record this year was the result of a broad-based team effort with six JV players contributing to Varsity wins.
Two teams, Varsity and Junior Varsity, make up the girls Upper School tennis program. Our goal is to provide an environment that will maximize individual skill development and understanding of the game while at the same time learning and practicing team skills that will lead to competitive success. We work hard in practice as a team, play with skill and determination in competition both as individuals and as a team, and experience our wins and losses together. And along the way we manage to share a lot of joy and fun.
Our 2015 season was exceptional. We won our District Competition and sent four players to our State Competition. At State we won the State Team Championship, won the Singles Championship (third year running), and took second place in the Doubles competition.
We have strong returning players at both singles and doubles and look forward to several JV players moving up to Varsity this year. We expect the 2016 season to be outstanding.
