Golf - Varsity Girls
2018 Season Re-Cap
At the beginning of the season our team had 5 members. All but one were returning players who had experience playing the previous season. A week into the season we were down to 4 players and a couple weeks after that we were down to a team of 3 players. This was mostly due to other academic and extracurricular activities outside of golf.
I was pleased with our improvement as a team overall. With many players not able to attend consistently, we were still able to improve our games. Our team had a lot of fun while practicing and playing which made the season enjoyable. We played in two tournaments this season. The fist was in terrible weather, but the girls did not complain about conditions. I was very encouraged by their mental toughness and positive attitudes. The second tournament was better weather which provided better play. I was encouraged to see our players positively interact with their competitors. I wanted our players to be people who others enjoyed being around on the course, and I think that was true of this team. I am confident that our team had a lot of fun throughout the season playing a sport that can be very frustrating.
Unfortunately, our team did not compete in post-season play. We had one golfer who would have had a chance to compete with some of the better players in the district.
