January 23-26, 2018
In January, Upper School suspends regular classes for four days and offers a variety of experiential learning opportunities called Winterim. Winterim offers an extended period for students to go deeply into one issue, provides student leadership opportunities, and sparks student partnerships across grade levels. It also provides an opportunity to recharge; all work happens during school hours during that week.
Winterim endeavors to stretch students in new and profound ways and it promotes different perspectives through participation and experience. Students enrolled in United States History will all have the opportunity to attend the PLACE program at the CENTER, their learning will be directly tied to their course’s curriculum and will allow for place-based learning in our city. The rest of the Upper School students will enroll in one of a few offerings which will aim to tackle complex issues that require a multidisciplinary approach and will develop the adaptive, creative, collaborative and applied thinking that we aim for our graduates to acquire. A full listing of opportunities will be available in the fall.
