Catlin Gabel supports inspired learning leading to responsible action. In the Beginning School we begin the building of what we hope is a lifelong sense of service based in empathy, community engagement, and personal efficacy and responsibility. This work is integrated into the curriculum whenever possible.
In preschool the emphasis is on learning to care for the classroom and campus environment as good stewards of the materials and spaces we all use. Students learn how to participate in the school’s recycling and conservation efforts. They remove litter wherever it is found and take good care of community resources.
In kindergarten the students create artwork each month to be used to decorate Hopewell House, a local hospice facility, and families sign up to deliver “The Golden Box” of colorful artworks there. They also continue the preschool focus on caring for the classrooms and campus.
