Get to Know Us

Sara Nordhoff

Sara is excited to be at Catlin Gabel as the director of admission and financial assistance. Her professional background is in higher education admissions at Mount Holyoke, Bennington, and Dartmouth Colleges, where she's read many wonderful applications from Catlin Gabel seniors. Sara's undergraduate degree is from Middlebury College, and she has a master's degree in communications from Boston University. Most weekends you'll find Sara outside playing with her husband Andy, their sons Riley Dan and William, and their pup, Brew.

Mary Braun

Mary's background includes admission work at Mounds Park Academy, a PK-12 independent school, and a number of enrollment management roles in higher education at St. Catherine University and Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, Minnesota, and at Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of St. Thomas and her master's degree from St. Catherine University. She and her husband Greg live in southeast Portland and love to spend time outdoors running, biking, hiking, and camping.

Mary Yacob

Mary coordinates the financial assistance process and helps with admission and financial assistance events. She has been with Catlin Gabel in various roles over the last 10 years as a parent and employee and also worked in the business office and the Upper School office. Mary graduated from Pepperdine University with a B.S. in business administration and has worked in market research and financial research in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. A Portland native, she lives with her two kids, Patrick and Samantha.

Zoё Edelen Hare

Zoё is delighted to be part of the admissions team at Catlin Gabel. Her middle school teaching background offers a unique perspective on these magical middle school years. A graduate of Lewis & Clark’s Masters of Teaching Program, as well as L&C’s undergraduate program, Zoё has worked both as a content developer for educational software as well as her most current role as a part-time English teacher at Lincoln High School. She and her husband Van, and their four boys, spend as much time camping and enjoying the outdoors as possible. You can also find her working on her screenplay in those elusive quiet moments.

Marabeth Passannante

Marabeth joined the Catlin Gabel admission team after seven years as audience services manager at Oregon Ballet Theatre. Prior to that, she was at the Oregon Symphony for eight years and has also enjoyed working in the box offices at Portland Opera, Portland Center Stage, the Oregon Convention Center, and the Rose Quarter. Marabeth has a degree in sociology from Portland State University. When not at work, you can often find her at the theater, traveling, attending music festivals, reading, making things, baking things, or trying something new. Originally from New Jersey, Marabeth now calls Portland her hometown.

Chris Dorough '03

Chris joined the admission team after teaching in the Scappoose School District for four years. He is a graduate of Catlin Gabel, as well as the varsity girls soccer coach for the Eagles. Chris graduated from Whitman College with a B.A. in psychology, and went on to earn a master's degree in education from Pacific University. Chris spends his time reading, playing and watching sports, and hanging with his wife, Mary, and their son, Lincoln

Chris Woodard

Chris has worked in various departments throughout Catlin Gabel for over 27 years. An Oregon native, Chris has an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Oregon. Before Catlin Gabel, Chris worked at the Multnomah County Library and OMSI, and trained as a court reporter. Her two children, Sarah '02 and Sam '06, are Catlin Gabel "lifers." Chris spends her time after hours walking, reading, and hanging out with her husband Rick and their two golden retrievers, Jake and Cheyenne.
