Catlin Gabel Preventive Measures

The school is following guidelines from public health partners, infectious disease experts, and governing agencies to help prevent the spread of illness. To help keep our community well, we’ve expanded our regular protocols. We also ask for your help in reducing the spread of germs by having all community members stay home if they are sick.

Expanded Cleanings: Our facilities team is increasing the frequency of cleaning high traffic areas, such as doorknobs, railings, bathrooms, and tables. Hand sanitizers have been placed around campus and two hand-washing stations have been set-up outside The Barn. Buses are being cleaned after every use, and riders are being asked to not eat or drink while on the bus to avoid sharing germs.

SAGE Dining Sanitary Measures: Staff have enhanced already-stringent protocols, which include frequent hand-washing and glove changing. All surface areas (buffet, shelves, keyboards) are cleaned after break and before lunch. Publicly-handled serving utensils are replaced every 15 minutes. Students are asked to use hand sanitizer before entering the Barn and are reminded to use serving utensils.

New Waiting Room: If any employee or student becomes ill while at school, we have a new waiting space (the Holodeck) located in the lower-level of the Barn. Please note our exclusion policies regarding when children or employees should stay home due to illness remains the same.

Travel Advisory Information

Catlin Gabel is requesting that anyone who has traveled to or had close contact with someone who has traveled to any country identified by the CDC as a “Level 3” high risk area to refrain from visiting campus for 14 days. The CDC website should be checked daily for the latest updates, as the list of “Level 3” countries may change.
