In August 2025, the Catlin Gabel Board of Trustees announced the selection of Dr. Aline García Rubio to serve as Catlin Gabel's next Head of School, beginning her tenure on July 1, 2026. Dr. García Rubio was selected through an extensive search that attracted accomplished and talented educators from around the world.

Search Process

In December 2024, current Head of School Tim Bazemore announced his departure at the end of the 2025-2026 school year. Catlin Gabel formed a Search Committee composed of alumni, board members, faculty, and staff, to conduct a disciplined search in partnership with the firm Spencer Stuart. The process involved inclusive engagement from the Catlin Gabel community, development of an Opportunity Statement, comprehensive candidate research, and rigorous assessment of leading applicants.

From the diverse pool of talented and accomplished candidates, Dr. García Rubio emerged for her strong academic leadership, deep familiarity with the Catlin Gabel community, and expertise in innovative educational programming.

The school’s administrative team and trustees will work with the incoming and departing Heads of School to help facilitate a smooth transition over the course of the next year.
