Although the physical space for the CENTER has closed, the wonderful partnerships that were formed through the CENTER'S work will continue.
The expansion of youth-led programming around the Portland metro area was a key goal of the CENTER'S original vision and was made possible with the support of Coalition partners. The school is committed to sustaining our work with these partners while also expanding connections with new organizations so that we can provide an array of community engagement opportunities for our students.
Our work with Black United Fund of Oregon, De La Salle North Catholic High School, Urban League of Portland, KairosPDX, and Latino Network remains essential as we look to having Catlin Gabel students engage, connect, and take action in communities throughout the Portland region and beyond.
The opportunities developed through PLACE (People Leading Across City Environments) will also continue to encourage the development of youth programming and to inspire youth to engage with the greater community in a variety of ways.
Our vision for Community Engagement will be aligned with the school's vision of becoming an antiracist institution, and the program will continue to be part of the school's Office of Inclusion and Outreach, as we look to develop diverse and meaningful experiences for students from preschool to 12th grade.
