National Merit Recognition: The class of 2009 included eight National Merit commended students, six National Merit semifinalists (three of whom elected not to continue in the competition), two finalists, and one National Merit scholarship winner.  

Advanced Placement: Although AP classes are not offered at Catlin Gabel, students often opt to take the exams, and do quite well. For 2008-09, Catlin Gabel was identified by the College Board as having one of the best student success rates in the state of Oregon for math, science, and technology courses. In the spring of 2009, 31 students took 48 Advanced Placement exams. This year 96% of those tested earned a score of three or higher.
