Adding the Japanese Language Pack to Office XP

This document infroms you how to add a Japanese Language Pack, but to do that you will need to go to the Tech Office.

 

·
Open the Regional and Language
Options the Control Panel.

·
Go to the Start Menu and
select Control Panel

·
Double-click on the Regional
and Language Options
.

·
Click on the Languages
Tab
.

·
Click the checkbox next to
Install Files for East Asian Languages

·
Click Apply

·
The computer will then ask for
the original XP Professional CD. Insert the CD-ROM into the CD drive and click
OK. (For this CD you will need to go to the Tech Office)

Once the computer is finished
copying the files, it will prompt you to restart the computer. Click
OK.

After the computer reboots, click
go back into the Control Panel, Regional and Language Options,
Languages Tab.

Click on the Details
box.

·
Click the Add
button.

·
Select Japanese from the
drop down menu that appears.

·
Click on the checkbox next to
Keyboard Layout/IME.

·
Click OK.

·
Click on the Language Bar
button
. Make sure the first 3 boxes are checked and click
OK.

·
To test the Language option, open
a new Word Document. Select Japanese from the language toolbar either at the top
or bottom of your screen. Select Hirgana from the Input Method. Then try typing
[a, ka, sa, ta, na]. This should all produce Japanese characters.
