Natural Gas
Goal:
- The long term goal is to use renewable forms of energy and eliminate the use of fossil fuels.
- The short term goal is to reduce consumption and make the most efficient use of energy purchased.
Status:
The campus trend for natural gas provided by NW Natural has been up and down over the past ten years and is currently moving toward less use.
- Natural gas consumption for 2009-2010 was 27% below the peak year of 2002/2003.
- Therms used are at the lowest level since 1998/1999 even though the campus has grown 11.7% in that time.
- July 2010 gas use is down 1.23% compared to last July.
