4th Grade

Students regularly compost, recycle, and reuse food and supplies for the classroom. Teachers have purchased dishes to wash and use at classroom celebrations.  We consciously purchase supplies that can be refilled or have less packaging and waste. We also take our class on trips into various habitats and woodland areas in our region to identify native plants, animals and learn to appreciate and sustain nature. We have worked with Lower Columbia Estuary Project to pull invasive species and restore salmon to the streams.

5th Grade

Students follow the pitchfork to plate process. Working directly with farmers and businesses, children study different planting and farming methods, view packing plants, and follow food to their plates at home. Along the way students examine the consumption of energy and the social and environmental choices that must be made along this journey.
