National Soccer Coaches Association Of America (NSCAA) Names Catlin Gabel’s Mike Davis The 2002 Boys High School National Coach Of The Year For Private And Parochial Schools

Catlin Gabel’s Chris Dorough, League Player Of The Year, Appointed To The 2002 High School All America Team By The National Soccer Coaches Association of America

Catlin Gabel School, dedicated to academic excellence, today announces Mike Davis was named the 2002 Boys High School National Coach of the Year for Private and Parochial Schools by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Mike previously won the National Award in 1990. In addition, Catlin Gabel applauds Chris Dorough, League Player Of The Year, who was recently appointed to the 2002 High School All America Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

This season, Catlin Gabel School won the first-ever Boys Oregon State Championship for 2A/1A Division schools. Competing against schools in the same division, Davis’s team posted a 15-0-0 record, scoring 105 goals and conceding only nine. Against larger 3-A division schools, his team was 1-1-1, scoring four goals and allowing four. The team was League Champions and undefeated in 10 conference games, outscoring opponents 84-5. Davis was named conference co-coach of the year and Oregon 2A/1A coach of the year.

Mike Davis has coached 16 seasons of soccer at Catlin Gabel and is currently in his 15th year as a full time faculty member.

The following players earned awards during the 2002 season.

Chris Dorough, League Player of the Year, First Team All League, State Player of The Year, First Team All State, National Soccer Coaches Association of America 2002 High School All America Team.

Nathan Krishnamurthy, First Team All League, First Team All State.

Ted Lane, First Team All League, First Team All State.

Davis Kellogg First Team All League, Second team All State.

Jensen Marineau, First Team All League.

Colin Denman, First Team All League.
