Chief of the Middle East Radio Unit of the United Nations Hamid Abdeljaber and Major Kate McCarthy of the U.S. Army Featured

Catlin Gabel, an independent, coeducational day school, is pleased to announce that Upper School Senior, Whitney Haring-Smith, will emcee the 34th Annual Fall Model U.N. Conference, which will take place at the University of Oregon on October 22, 2002 at 9:00 a.m. The conference, sponsored by Oregon High School International Relations League (OHSIRL), will focus on Iraq and feature Hamid Abdeljaber, Chief of the Middle East Radio Unit of the United Nations, Major Kate McCarthy of the U.S. Army and 350 students from across Oregon.

WHAT: The Oregon High School International Relations League (OHSIRL) 34th Annual Fall Conference, featuring a Security Council simulation (with students serving as delegates) of the situation in Iraq. The students will engage in a debate on Iraq with experts from the United Nations, the U.S. Army, the University of Oregon, Oregon State University and Willamette University.
