It’s SO BIG you won’t believe your eyes!

Catlin Gabel’s 61st annual Rummage Sale is coming!

PORTLAND, Ore.-- Get ready for an amazing sight! Catlin Gabel School is set to kick off its 61st annual Rummage Sale on Thursday, November 3. The massive sale will continue through Sunday, November 6, at the Portland Expo Center, Halls A and B, 2060 N. Marine Dr. There is no admission charge for the sale--and tons and tons of good buys. (The Portland Expo Center charges for parking in its lot.) Hours for the sale are:

Thursday, November 3: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. (35 percent markup on all items)

Friday, November 4: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturday, November 5: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sunday, November 6: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Catlin Gabel Rummage Sale is one of the largest fundraising sales in the world, filling 88,000 square feet of the Portland Expo Center with donated items for sale, offering Oregon and southwest Washington residents incredible bargains. Just about everything is available at the sale, including a baby grand piano, a motorcycle, and a Volvo, as well a great selection of antiques (come see the Rookwood vase!), furniture, clothing, toys, electronics, computers, music, videos and DVDs, jewelry, and sporting goods. Proceeds from the sale benefit the student financial aid program at Catlin Gabel School. For more on the sale, visit the Rummage Sale Web page.

Many hundreds of volunteers make this sale possible, last year contributing more than 9,000 hours of work at the Expo Center alone (not counting the hours worked by the dedicated volunteers who sort goods year-round). The volunteer corps is drawn from the Catlin Gabel School community, including a multi generational mix of grandparents, alumni, students, parents, and staff. Everyone pitches in, making this unique fundraiser a benchmark nationwide. What underlies this miraculous effort is both a strong sense of community and the knowledge that every effort supports students in need of financial assistance.
