Social equity means different things to different people. The PLACE program uses the Coalition for a Livable Future's definition: the right of every person to have access to opportunities necessary for satisfying essential needs and advancing their well-being.

In PLACE, all classes focus on catalyzing conversation and action that promotes equal access to resources and opportunities as the foundation for strong communities.  Not only is it an important concept when looking at the future of communities, but the idea of equal access to life's necessities is something students gravitate to in a "no duh" kind of way.
