In their final month at Catlin Gabel prior to graduation, Senior Projects immerse our seniors in a professional world of their own choosing while fostering connections between our school and the local community. In recent years our students have gained real-world experiences in nonprofits, private businesses, and government agencies and have worked with a variety of artists, entrepreneurs, and civic leaders. In keeping with Catlin Gabel's philosophy, Senior Projects offer students the opportunity for experiential education and service learning in a local area of their interest. Senior Projects provide opportunities for students to engage with the local community while living our mission of “inspired learning leading to responsible action.”
During the monthlong Senior Project period, all seniors write extensive blogs where they outline their daily activities and reflect on their time in the workplace. At the end of their projects, seniors return to campus to share what they have learned with the rest Upper School. We dedicate a day to hearing their stories. Senior projects sometimes result in ongoing relationships between students and their host organizations through internships, summer work, and making connections in their fields of interest.
