Soccer - Varsity Girls vs. Yamhill Carlton

Event Type: Regular
Advantage:Home

Date: September 8, 2017

Result:Win
Score:4-0

Event Recap:

On Friday night the Eagles took the field for their fourth game of the season to take-on the visiting team from Yamhill-Carlton/ Gaston High Schools. The game came after a week of very limited practices for both teams due to the spreading fires in Oregon. Both teams came out strong, however, and worked quickly to find their grooves again. The first half ended with a 0-0 score, despite Catlin coming up with 23 scoring opportunities.

The second half was a different story. One minute into play Ann Louise Naito scored a beautiful goal off of an assist from teammate Caroline Cook. Four minutes later saw Sophie Wand putting a long-time-coming ball in the back of the net with an assist from sophomore Annika Holliday. Four minutes after that Emma Sadle took a beautiful shot which hit the post and rebounded to Annika Holliday who one-touched it into the goal. The score was 3-0 and remained that way until ten minutes left in play. In an exciting play, Zoe Waechter scored her first goal as an Eagle from a pass from Caroline Cook to make the score 4-0. Catlin ended the day with a great 4-0 win against the visiting team, and learned a lot through the experience about how to pull together as a team in order to make things happen. A big hats-off to the Yamhill-Carlton/ Gaston goalkeeper, Sage O'Loughlin, who had upwards of 25 saves and was relentless and confident in goal all day.
