Endowed Financial Aid Funds

Endowed financial aid funds ensure that Catlin Gabel can seek out the best and brightest students with limited regard for their ability to pay.

Sid Eaton Candowment/Alys Patterson/Benjamin Reed/Bill Watson Fund

This combined fund was created in 1998. Candowment, a project that raises awareness of recycling and sustainability, was established in 1983.

The Patterson / Reed / Watson Financial Aid Fund was established in 1982 from the bequest of Alys Patterson, a dedicated Rummage Sale volunteer, was enlarged by the bequest of Benjamin M. Reed, and further enhanced by gifts in memory of Bill Watson '79.

Catlin Gabel Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 2008 to provide financial assistance to current and prospective Catlin Gabel student and families across divisions

Earle A. Chiles Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 1986 by Earle M. Chiles '51 in honor of his father, Earle A. Chiles, provide financial aid for Upper School students.

Jack Dant Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 1999 by Jack Dant to provide financial aid for students at Catlin Gabel.

Clint Darling Fund

Established in 2010 by the Catlin Gabel community in honor of Clint Darling and his support of financial aid.

Sally Slocum Davis '38 Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 2006 by Sally Slocum Davis '38 for financial aid for rising freshmen.

Kitty M.Thompson Ellis '52 Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 1997 by Stephen and Helen Malarkey '30 Thompson in memory of their daughter Kitty Thompson Ellis '52 to provide financial aid for upper school students interested in the arts.

George Ettelson '42 Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 2005 by Helene Ettelson in honor of her husband's 80th birthday to provide financial aid for Upper School students.

Ruth Ettelson Wurzweiler '42 Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 2002 by George Ettelson '42 in memory of his sister Ruth Ettelson Wurzweiler '42 to support financial aid for a male and a female student.

Faculty-Staff Endowed Children's Fund

Established by school employees to ensure that all colleagues with children could afford to enroll their children at Catlin Gabel.

EE Ford Students of Color Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 1986 with a grant from the Edward E. Ford Foundation for financial aid for Upper School students of color.

EE Ford Foundation Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 1975 with a grant from the Edward E. Ford Foundation for financial aid for Upper School students.

William G. Gilmore Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 2008 by the William G. Gilmore Foundation to provide financial assistance to Catlin Gabel students.

Elizabeth Gray Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 2003 from the estate of Elizabeth Gray, trustee from 1966 to 1972 and parent of Anne Walrod '67, Joan Gray '69, Janet Gray Webster '71, Jack Gray '73, and Laurie Gray Mootz '75, to support Upper School students.

Beatrice Klapper Gurian Endowed Music Scholarship Fund

Established in 2007 by Carol Gurian Elledge '47 in memory of her mother, for an Upper School student with an affinity for music studies.

John J. Gurian '54 Endowed Scholarship for Global Education

Established in 2007 by Carol Gurian Ellege '47 in memory of her brother, to be used for students to engage in travel through the Catlin Gabel global education program.

Hawley Family Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 2004 by Philip Hawley '43 to support financial aid for Upper School students.The fund honors Mr. Hawley's siblings: Adele Hawley Davie '35, Willard Hawley '41, Dinda Hawley Mills '44, and Barbara Hawley Hosking '49.

Frances W. Jubitz Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 2004 by David Lawrence '58 and his wife, Stephanie, to honor his mother, Frances "Bunny" Jubitz, former wife of Amos Lawrence, head of Gabel Country Day School 1947-56, to support financial aid for Upper School students.

Mabel Livingstone Bishop '42 Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 2008 by Mabel Livingstone Bishop '42 to provide financial assistance to Catlin Gabel students.

Malone Scholars Program

Established in 2005 with a $2 million award from the Malone Family Foundation for financial aid for exceptional students.

Stuart Moore Endowed Scholarship Fund for Students of Color

Established in 1994 by his family in memory of Stuart Moore, Catlin Gabel trustee, to support financial aid for students of color.

Deborah Schnitzer Novack '66 Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 1993 by Ken Novack in honor of his wife, an alumna and trustee, to support financial needs of students beyond tuition.

Lydia Wood Noyes '37 Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 1995 in memory of Lydia Wood Noyes '37 by her husband Robert H Noyes, Jr., and her children Christine Kendall '62, Rebecca Kendall Burt '65, and William Dean Kendall, Jr. '60.

Readers Digest Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 1985 by the DeWitt Wallace-Reader's Digest Fund Inc. to support financial aid.

Rees Family Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 2004 by the estate of Kathryn G. Rees for financial aid to Upper School students.

The Renjen Family Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 2005 by Punit and Heather Renjen to provide financial aid for students at Catlin Gabel.

Karin '95 and Tyler '98 Rogers Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 2003 by Jeff Rogers, to honor his children, Karin Rogers '95 and Ty Rogers '98, and to support financial aid for students of color.

James K. Scott Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 1994 in honor of Jim Scott, headmaster from 1985 to 1994, to support financial aid.

The Anne and Eli Shapira Charitable Foundation Fund

Established in 2008 by the Anne and Eli Shapira Foundation to support financial aid to Middle School and Upper School students.

Esther Dayman Strong Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 2003 by the members of the class of 1953 in honor of their 50th reunion to support financial aid for female students.

Frederick Pittock Thorsen '49 Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 2000 by Robert Vega in memory of Frederick Pittock Thorsen '49 to support financial aid.

Adelyn Ball White '60 Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established in 1992 by Grace Ball in honor of her daughter Lyn Ball White '60 to support finanical aid.
