The 2015 documentary, The Crossing, a film that tells the story of refugee immigration from the Middle East into Europe, as well as the entire refugee experience. The film chronicles the hardships of the sea journey from Alexandria across the Mediterranean (a three-day journey that can take eight), rescue by a freighter granting the passengers safe haven to Genoa, and the difficulties of assimilating to new lives in Italy, Norway, Sweden, Germany and Belgium.
This student-led event is being hosted by the Thrive Program, an agency that aids with the assimilation and resettlement of youth refugees in the United States, and works through the larger refugee non-profit organization, RAIN International. RAIN will host the post-film discussion at this event. Learn more about RAIN.
