Community Engagement: Project Prelude
Posted 12/16/2016 11:00AM

Project Prelude is a new non-profit started in summer 2016 by two Catlin Gabel juniors: Violinist Cammie Lee '18 (who plays with the Metropolitan Youth Symphony and has been a frequent regional competition winner) and flutist Isabelle Zheng '18 (who is the co-principal flute at Portland Youth Philharmonic).

Cammie and Isabelle saw an absence of elementary school music education in the Portland area and decided to address the problem by forming their own community engagement program, Project Prelude. They’re now passing on their love of classical music by offering free weekly violin lessons to 4th, 5th & 6th graders at Aloha-Huber Park K-8 School.

Cammie and Isabelle were featured on a recent episode of the KPBS All Classical program “On Deck with Young Musicians,” discussing Project Prelude. Learn more about the On Deck program
