Oregon Public Broadcasting Radio’s “Think Out Loud” program presented a youth-led and produced broadcast November 2 centered on youth perspectives of the changing American Dream. The program was recorded October 25 with a live audience at The CENTER in North Portland, the coalition-led hub for child and youth creativity, education, and engagement.
Catlin Gabel students Grace Wong '17 and Juma Sei '16 were featured panelists; the program also included comments from Grace Masback '17, Javin Dana '17, and Christina Spires '16. Tyler White, The CENTER youth programs coordinator, hosted and co-produced the program. Many area high schools were represented, with student panelists and audience members from Jefferson, Grant, Lincoln, De La Salle North, Roosevelt, St. Mary's, and other high schools.
This “American Dream” episode of “Think Out Loud” was initiated by and features the voices of Portland teens representing their own points of view. The CENTER space, the site for the broadcast, is co-operated by coalition members Catlin Gabel, Black United Fund of Oregon, iUrban Teen, Kairos PDX, Urban League of Portland, and De La Salle North Catholic High School. Catlin Gabel is the convening partner for The CENTER.
