US Rock Climbing PE Credit

UPPER SCHOOL CLIMBING PE CREDIT:

Back by popular demand, the Outdoor Program is excited to be announcing its offering of a PE credit for rock climbing for the second Winter in a row! 

Rock Climbing is a fun physical and mental challenge.  This course is open to all US students, regardless of experience level.  Students will learn technique and movement and, although the sport encourages individual efforts, students will support and encourage each other in a team environment.  David Zonana and Chris Bagg will provide transportation, instruction, logistics, and inspiration.  Various other Catlin chaperones will accompany the group each session, and the class will be joined by the Catlin Middle School Climbing Club on Thursday afternoons.

--Attend 15 rock climbing dates at the Circuit Bouldering Gym.  Dates are: 12/2, 12/6, 12/9, 12/13, 12/16, 1/3, 1/6, 1/10, 1/13, 1/20, 1/24, 1/27, 1/31, 2/3, 2/7, 2/10, 2/14, 2/17, 2/21.  Times are Mondays and Thursdays from 2:55-5:55 pm..

--Attend 2 of the 3 climbing club gatherings at the Portland Rock Gym on Saturdays from 5-8 pm (Dates to be announced) OR attend the Outdoor Program Climbing Trip to Smith Rock on December 11-12.

Cost per student to be charged to student accounts:

$120 for the 15+ sessions at the Cicruit Bouldering Gym ($150 if rental shoes are required)
$5 per climbing club gatherings at the Portland Rock Gym
$35 Discounted rate for PE Rock Climbing students for Outdoor Program Smith Rocks trip.
