 Exploring a Wild Coast

This 6 day trip will provide a deep experience in the remote and wild Olympic Peninsula. Students have the option of participating in this trip as a stand-alone experience, or can link this week with the Stehekin North Cascade Adventure for a longer trip. We'll travel to the rugged coast of southern Washington and then enjoy two days of surf lessons and practice on the perfectly-sized summer waves. At night, we'll sleep above the rolling ocean. For those coming from the rugged peaks of the North Cascades, this will be a dramatic change of landscape.

Exhausted after two days of surfing, we'll journey to Olympic National Park for three days of exploring and backpacking along a truly pristine and wild coast. Our trip will take us along the ominously titled "Shipwreck Coast Trail," and through one of the most striking landscapes on the planet.  While backpacking along the coast, we will need to time our travel with the tides to ensure that we will be able to make it around the various coastal headlands.

The cost of this trip is $345. This cost includes all transportation, surf rentals, surf and backpacking instruction, and most food. The trip is open to graduating 8th graders and all Upper School Students.
