How cool would it be to ski from Timberline Lodge all the way down to Government Camp? And how cool would be to have a warm place to stay in Government Camp when you get there and not have gto make the tiring and annoying drive back to Portland? Well, your ship has come in, your dreams have come true. On the weekend of March 6-7, 2010 any Upper Schooler who wants to (actually just the first 11) can realize their hopes and dreams and sign up for this magical trip. This is a cross country ski trip - a great chance to begin to branch out from the usual boarding and skiing, and leave the overpriced and underentaertaining ski resorts of your youth.
The plan is to leave Portland on Saturday morning and drive to Government Camp to establish our base camp in the comfortable and cozy Huckleberry Inn. After a short while we will board the bus again and drive up to Timberline Lodge. From there we will ski A-L-L the way down to Governmet Camp on one of the secret trails that traverses through the forest below Timberline. once in Government camp we will put our feet up and swap tales until we walk down the street to a wonderful dinner at one of the local establishments.
Sunday will see us skiing on the man miles of excellent nordic ski rails ariund Government Camp. We plan to be home to Catlin about 4:00 pm on Sunday.
The trip is open to students in the Upper School.
The cost for the trip, including ski, boot, pole rental, dinner, breakfast, transportation and overnight lodging is $75.
