Bike along an abandoned railroad

No need to watch and listen for trains.  This abandoned, 21-mile railroad offers scenic and incredible biking on the way toward the Coast range.  We will load our bikes into a trailer, board the activity bus and head toward the town of Vernonia.  Once at the trailhead, we will roll up our pant legs and start riding along the peaceful Banks-Vernonia State Trail for as far as we feel possible.  We will stop to appreciate the lush vegetation, and for a a satisfying lunch break before turning around and heading back toward the bus.  The weather should be great, and we will return to Portland tired and content.

There is no experience necessary, and you do not need to be an athlete to join this ride. The cost of this trip is $25.  This fee covers, transportation, instruction, and most food.  This trip is open to all Middle School students.  You can sign up by sending an email to David Zonana at zonanad@Catlin.edu .
