We're off to explore the fantastic and exciting lava tubes of the southern Washington Cascades, near Mt. St. Helens. Dozens of lava tubes lie under the forest, and we'll don helmets and headlamps to explore a few, walking and crawling through underground passageways to our hearts' delight.

Saturday morning we will drive to Trout Lake, and explore a few caves for the afternoon. As a group we will walk and scramble through the dark twists, turns, and a few narrow passages of the caves.  After emerging from underground we will spend the night in a barn, cooking a delicious dinner for ourselves. Sunday morning we will wake up for a little more cave exploration, and after lunch drive back to Portland.

The trip cost is $30, which includes food, transportation, instruction, and helmet. The trip will be billed to your school account after the trip. Financial aid is available--talk to Olivia Miller or Financial Aid in Toad Hall.

This trip is open to all Middle School Students.
