June 14-15 Upper School Ultimate Columbia Gorge Rafting Trip

Spend two relaxing days after the end of school while exploring the gorgeous and exciting Klickitat and White Salmon rivers.  As we float through seemingly endless class III and IV rapids, you’ll see that, so close to Portland, these beautiful rivers cut through majestic landscapes in their journey toward the Pacific.

On Monday, we’ll travel to Trout Lake and gear up for our adventure.  Our trip down the Klickitat will take all of Monday.  Exhausted from an incredible day, we’ll make camp at the Trout Creek Campground and cook a warming meal.  After sleeping in on Tuesday, we’ll make some incredible pancakes and hike to the top of Sleeping Beauty before we once again slip into our wetsuits for an afternoon float of the White Salmon, arguably one of the most fun half-day floats in the Northwest.

During our days on the river, students will learn the basics of guiding a raft through whitewater, focusing on teamwork, communication, decision making, and fun. At camp we’ll take turns cooking for the group, with lots of time to relax and explore. Students should be in good health and comfortable around water. No previous experience is necessary

The cost of this trip is $175.  The trip is open to graduating 8th graders and all Upper School Students.  You can sign up by sending an email to Chris Potts at pottsc@Catlin.edu
