Cross Country Ski Trip into a Beautiful Mountain Cabin
Join us for one of our most popular trips! We will ski the snow covered roads of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest backcountry, through the gently falling snow, to a remote Forest Service Cabin. The hills around Mt. Adams team with wildlife and the wonders of the wilderness, and we will enjoy them from the front seat of our little group as it heads to the legendary Government Mineral Spring Cabin. As this trip has been so popular in the past, we will be offering two consecutive overnight trips. Students will carry most of their gear and food with them, though there is minimal elevation gain on the ski trip. NO previous ski experience is necessary, though students should be comfortable with being in the snow or foul weather in case that is the hand we happen to be dealt.
David Zonana will lead the first group and will leave Catlin Gabel at 8:00 am on Monday and return on Tuesday afternoon about 5:00. Peter Green will lead the second group and will leave at 8:00 am on Tuesday and be back by 5:00 pm on Wednesday. The two groups will overlap for skiing and adventures on Tuesday.
The trip cost is $45 and is open to Upper Schoolers. As with all trips, financial aid is available. Information can be found online, or in the Outdoor Program office.
