Viewfinder Film Series

Tonight's feature for young audiences (children over 7)

Tarre Zameen Par hosted by 4th grade teacher Mariam Higgins

Ishaan Awasthi (Darsheel Safary) is an eight-year-old whose world is filled with wonders that no one else seems to appreciate; colors, fish, dogs and kites are just not important in the world of adults, who are much more interested in things like homework, marks and neatness. And Ishaan just cannot seem to get anything right in class.

When he gets into far more trouble than his parents can handle, he is packed off to a boarding school to be disciplined. Things are no different at his new school, and Ishaan has to contend with the added trauma of separation from his family. Childcare will also be available for the littlest ones ages 3-6.

Please see this page  for a list of all the movies showing.

Empty the Lot Day is Thursday, October 15

Today, Thursday, October 8 is the final day to sign-up for the CGS route buses for Empty the Lot Day! Sign-up is required even for regular riders.

Beginning and Lower School parents: Ginny Malm has access to the online registration, so you don't need to let her know your child is riding the CGS bus that day if you sign up on-line by the deadline, Thursday, October 8.

This day is the best day all year to try out a new form of transportation. Help reduce your carbon footprint and help keep the air clean for everyone. You may even find that you prefer riding with your friends on the bus or biking in the crisp morning air!

How will YOU get to school? Choose how you cruise:
- Bike
- Walk
- Carpool
- Take the MAX or Trimet
- SPECIAL: Ride the CGS Bus (free on this day!)

Happy travels!

2009 Coordinator of Empty the Lot Day

ASC All-Day Programs this year:
Because the demand for these programs has increased, we will rely on parents to notify ASC if they need their children to participate in a program on a particular day when there are no classes for employment or personal reasons.  The more advanced notice can be (at least one week ahead of the date, unless it is an emergency) the better chance there is that a spot will be available.

You can find the dates of ASC all-day programs listed on Page 8 of the CGS Directory and in the “What’s Coming Up” calendar in The Crier.  An *asterisk indicates that pre-arranged child care is available.

If there are open spots available for any of the all-day programs, that fact will be mentioned in the ASC column in The Crier the week before.  During parent-teacher conferences in November and March, ASC will continue to provide childcare for no additional fee, during the time of children’s conferences.

Gambol Auction News

This year's "There's No Place Like Home" Gambol theme is inspired by what is important: family and community. Please join us as we celebrate our children, honor Catlin Gabel's outstanding teachers and make this a successful year for the Gambol to give back to our amazing community.

Organizing a successful auction takes thoughtful preparation and dedication. We rely on the generous support of our community to pull off this big party. Do you have a specific talent you would share? Host a dinner party at your home? Do you know someone who has services they would donate? If you would like to be involved in this important fundraising event, please contact the auction office at gambol@catlin.edu. Donation forms are available online.

This year we start an exciting new tradition with an online auction November 9-23, 2009. Mark your calendar and get ready for some holiday shopping for the special people on your list. More information to follow in the weeks ahead.

Many thanks from the Gambol Planning Committee!
