Lower School Athletics!
Interested and willing to coach a basketball team this season? No previous experience is really needed. And this could be a shared position. Catlin Gabel Lower School has a longstanding tradition and history of coed 3rd & 4th grade basketball at Portland's Hillside Center at Culpepper Terrace - site of the original Lower School! This fun, non competitive league plays Friday afternoon or evening games. Hillside will also provide us with a practice site, likely on Tuesday's after school.
Again, no experience is required and we will support you as best we can. Last year we had two teams and one highlight was our mini game on campus at the halftime of one of the varsity basketball games. For further information please contact Len Carr in Athletics.

Lower School Strings Players wishing to play with the strings group at the Revels performance should plan to attend after school rehearsals from 3:30-4:30 pm on the following three Tuesdays: December 1, December 8 and December 15 . The rehearsals will be led by Valdine Mishkin, Co-Director of Rose City Music Academy. Players must be second year students or above.
LS Music Teacher Peggy McDonnell has copies of the sheet music to distribute. The music must be memorized and polished in time for the first rehearsal so now is the time to talk to Peggy.
Woodshop Needs Your Help
The woodshop is in need of clean, small yogurt-sized containers, cottage cheese, larger containers or any old Tupperware containers including lids for all and some old t-shirts for rag material. If you can spare some please bring them to the woodshop or drop them off with Julie in the Lower School. Thank you!
Donations for Marysville Elementary
By Miriam, Chloe, Gracie and Katie, grade 4
Nov. 30-Dec. 4 we will be collecting boxes of tissues and books for the K-5 students at Marysville Elementary. The school burned down. Everyone was okay but now they need books and tissues. Little tissue packets are okay to bring or full boxes. Books should be appropriate for kids K-7 because some of the 5th graders may be advanced readers. Used books would be great. Please bring your donations to the main hall. We will make sure it gets delivered. Thank-you.
Changes announced for next year in the Beginning School
Kindergarten hours expanded, preschool program adds drama class
Barn Closure
Since we are only serving lunch for LS on Monday and Tuesday, the hours of operation at the Barn are shorter than usual.
It will be open from 8:00 am - 8:30 am for breakfast and 11:30 am - 12:30 pm for lunch. The Barn will also be closed for after school snack on both days.
Winter Greens for Sale.jpg)
The Class of 2011 has created a junior prom fundraiser inspired by the rich natural surroundings of our campus and the Northwest. Our generous neighbor CORNELL FARM is providing beautiful evergreen arrangements produced locally and sustainably. The juniors will sell these arrangements, garlands, and mantelpieces featuring Noble fir with variegated holly and berries, royal fruit, and canella berry cones. Please watch the Catlin Gabel website for further details and order forms.
All products may be charged to your Catlin Gabel account. We are accepting orders through December 1. Your purchase will be available for pick-up at Cornell Farm (half a mile east of Catlin Gabel on Barnes Road) approximately two weeks after your order is received. You will be notified of the pick up date when your purchase is confirmed.
Please email Madeleine Girardin-Schuback or Nancy Donehower, junior class co-advisors, with any questions.
The Class of 2011 appreciates your support of our prom fundraiser. Thank you!
