Heads-up!
|
The weather forecast is a little dicey for Thursday, so we may have to cancel the Kindergarten Olympics if it is too rainy or cold. Unfortunately all the inside venues that might work for the Olympics are already scheduled with Middle and Upper School classes. Sheila and the PE staff will make the call early in the day. For those of you planning to attend the Olympics on Thurs. 10:00-12:00, please check your e-mail at around 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, for a message, should we need to cancel the event. We will also post notices on the Beehive doors. Think sun, or at least no rain!

Carpooling on Thursday
Parents: Thursday will be a busy day on campus with several events that will bring many vehicles to the parking lot. If possible, it would be very helpful if you could arrange carpooling with others to school on this day. Thank you!
Work Alert!
At the finish of the Olympics we need all of the parents to come to the classroom to pick up their child’s WORK TO GO HOME! This work includes all of their wonderful eagle projects and a Project Corner portfolio from Sue. This week we will be taking down the room and collecting a bag for each child filled with work and wonderful kindergarten memories. The bags will also include “Summer Journals.” We hope you all take advantage of this opportunity for your child to continue to grow in their literacy skills throughout the summer. The journals can also be used to record their own “math number stories.” We ask that all parents pick up their child’s bag of treasures when they leave the Olympics. They will be in the classrooms. Your end-of-the-year reports will be sent to your home soon.
The Last…
Kindergarten News!
Dear Parents,
Unbelievably, we are writing the last Kindergarten Eagle News for the year! This has been a most remarkable year. A grand combination of wonderful children and supportive parents! We have felt truly blessed, and we always feel that the year ends way too soon!
Last Friday included one of the ending traditions of the Eagle year. We sang, “So Long” to the “Senior Lifers,” students who started at Catlin in the Beginning School or the first grade. As teachers we look with such pride at the senior’s young-expectant faces, and then turn toward our own kindergartners where it all begins. It is such a wonderful “never-ending story!” This week will be filled with end-of-the-year Kindergarten traditions as well. On Monday the preschool children visited the kindergarten classroom and the Kindergartners visited the First Grade. The Kindergartners came back to our classroom very excited about what they have found out about next year.
The Olympics!!!
The children are so excited! On Thursday, the children will meet the parents and special friends down at the track at 10:00, for the opening ceremony of the Olympics. Parents are invited to have coffee at 9:30, down on the track. The Eagles will leave their classroom at 10:00. Please be sure to be on the track before the Eagles leave their classrooms. The Olympics will end with popsicles for the children who will then return to the classrooms for lunch.
Boat Day!!!
Following Friday Sing, the kindergartners will board a bus to go to Commonwealth Park to float our boats that were made in shop. We will return to school for lunch. Only the parents who are signed up to parent help will accompany us. Cross your fingers for good weather this week!
Many thanks to all of you for a wonderful kindergarten year!
With love and Happy Summer Wishes from the Kindergarten Team
