What do worms eat?

Dear Parents,

Fall Parade

This will be our final newsletter before Thanksgiving break. We can’t believe how quickly these first three months have passed! Next Monday will be DAY 50, and that too, seems to have arrived with untold speed. This coming Friday will be our first seasonal parade – The Fall Parade! It occurs before Friday Sing at 8:35 a.m.. When your child arrives, he/she will adorn themselves with a beautiful fall crown, now being created in the Project Corner. They will find their colorful fall wand, and then have their picture taken for their Memory Book. When “Father Fall” arrives, he will lead us throughout the campus to deliver our seasonal greeting. You are most welcome to join us with your camera! HOWEVER, we ask that parents let the children stay in the parade line and please do not interrupt the process by stopping your child and encouraging them to “Smile!” We know it’s so tempting, but…..children get confused and our nice tidy line deteriorates. The children are invited to wear “fall” colors for the parade.

Parent Conferences

We so enjoyed our parent conferences with you last week! Thank you for your time and attention! It was a wonderful opportunity for us to have an uninterrupted time to talk with you about our mutually favorite topic – your children! Your time with us truly helped us know better how we can best meet the needs of you and your child as we head into late fall together. We learned a great deal! Please know that if you have further questions that arise, you may always contact us at school or home.

This Week in the classroom

Family Museums

This week in the classroom we will continue our work with our family museums, and add stories and songs about grandparents and special friends. The children will also share their photos brought from home with their classmates and choose some pictures to embellish. Grandparents' & Special Friends' Day next Tuesday fits in so nicely with our Family Museum curriculum. We will send home the special family “twig trees” this week to be decorated. This is a fun family project and we love to see the variety of results when the trees are lovingly returned to school. Please return the trees to school by Friday, December 4th.

NOW IS THE TIME TO HELP YOU CHILD BRING IN 8-10 ITEMS FROM HOME TO PUT ON DISPLAY IN THEIR MUSEUMS.  If you have not done so yet, we need these items by Friday, December 4th. We have assured the children that their things will be safe while at school. Think of this activity as, “What a friend might see if they visited their bedroom.” Very tiny keepsakes are not encouraged. Often a favorite book, stuffed animal, music box, favorite toy, souvenirs from family trips, favorite holiday decorations, etc., display well in the museum boxes. Remember that these boxes are fairly good size. Small collections of small things can get lost.

Grandparents and Special Friends

We will be thinking about grandparents and special friends, and getting ready for their visit next Tuesday. Each Eagle will become a tour guide for a kindergarten version of “Open House". They will have a tour guide badge and book to use to guide their guest through all the spaces in the kindergarten. They will practice during the week, and by Friday feel like an expert. We are always so proud of how competent they become. Please be sure that you kindergartner knows who will be waiting for them in the Cabell Center.

 Tuesday Morning Schedule

10:00        Welcome guests in Cabell Center
10:15 - 10:45    Kindergartners arrive for sing along
