Valerie won a silver medal in the energy category at ISWEEP-2012 in Houston, Texas. She was one of about 500 students from 68 countries and 44 states who had qualified as finalists in the ISWEEP-2012 Olympiad. Her project was "A Novel Quantum Mechanical Approach to Property Analysis and Energy Efficiency Algorithm for White-Light LEDs".
