

We welcome one new exchange teacher, three teaching assistants, and five interns to our campus this year. In addition, a few people have shifted jobs.
New to Catlin Gabel
We are delighted to introduce you to Nagme Karamustafaoglu, a Fulbright exchange teacher from Turkey, who will teach 6th grade math. Nagme (pronounced Nah May) has a B.A. in mathematics from Istanbul University. She has lived and traveled in the United States as an AFS exchange student and has completed graduate course work course work at Harvard. In addition to teaching middle school math at Eyuboglu High School in Istanbul, Nagme led the Destination ImagiNation team, a creative problem solving program, coached volleyball, and instructed the origami club. Her supervisors consistently mentioned her humor, commitment to young people, and her incredible ability to instruct students with different levels of math understanding.
Teressa Barsotti, 4th grade teaching assistant, has a BA in anthropology from Portland State University. She has experience as a residential advocate at Transition Projects, youth care counselor at Boys and Girls Aid, writing assistant and sophomore mentor at PSU, and school coordinator for the SMART program.
Kelly Stark, kindergarten teaching assistant, recently completed her BA in sociology with an education focus at the University of Oregon. She has served as a teaching assistant at a preschool in Eugene, as a summer school classroom assistant at OMSI, and as a nanny.
Cassandra “Casi” Ticer, kindergarten teaching assistant, received her BS in international business from Pepperdine University. She has experience working with children at Oregon Episcopal School’s summer programs and has worked as a nanny.
Lower School interns are master’s candidates in the School of Education and Counseling at Lewis & Clark College.

Transitions
Beginning School
On July 1 Hannah Whitehead officially returned to the Beginning School as division head after 16 years of teaching 6th grade humanities. Beginning School teachers are delighted to welcome their colleague back into the fold. Hannah brings with her a wealth of knowledge about young children, early education, and parenting. Her breadth of experience teaching preschool, kindergarten, 1st grade, middle school, and adults provides Hannah with special wisdom and a truly unique perspective.
Lower School
Leondra Brackett moves from Lower School art assistant to lst grade teaching assistant. Rieko Mine returns to the Lower School and will also teach in the Middle School.
Middle School
Len Carr and Ann Fyfield will team teach 6th grade humanities, and our Fulbright Exchange teacher Nagme Karamustafaoglu will teach 6th grade math. Eighth grade English teacher Holly Walsh returns after a one-year leave of absence.
Upper School
Ginia King returns to teaching English and Yoko Iwasaki returns to teaching Japanese after they took one-year leaves of absence.
Who does what in development?
Miranda Wellman ’91, director of development, and Mike Moran, major giving program director, focus on the big fundraising needs of the school, including raising funds for financial aid, the arts center, and endowment, and helping our generous donors establish estate plans and special programs.
Lauren Dully Hubbard ’91, alumni and community relations director, and Lesley Sepetoski, alumni and community relations officer, are our resident community builders and event planners. Together they are responsible for the Gambol auction, Rummage Sale, alumni programming, and alumni events such as reunions and regional gatherings.
Eileen Andersen, annual giving program director, and Mary Foulk, annual giving officer, reach out to parents, alumni, grandparents, graduating seniors, and friends for the essential annual fund dollars that enable Catlin Gabel to offer an innovative, challenging, and diverse curriculum.
Vici Wolff, development services administrator, and Greg McMahon, development services coordinator, keep the wheels turning through gift processing, donor research, data management, thank-you letters, and fund reporting stewardship.
Mira Om, development assistant, brings it all together as ace assistant to the development team and the head’s office.
