PFA meeting: James L. Mason, Ph.D., talks about cultural competence

Dr. James Mason is the executive director of culturally competent care giving for the Providence Health & Services, Oregon Region; and is the former director of multicultural health for the State of Oregon. He has worked in higher education as an administrator, researcher, and educator since 1977. Dr. Mason has spoken at colleges, universities, and health and human service bureaucracies in the United States, Latin America, and Canada applying concepts of work force diversity and culturally competent service delivery to a variety of service disciplines including: education, higher education, public health, mental health, child welfare, maternal and child health, and alcohol and drug treatment. Dr. Mason has four children and has lived and worked in Portland since 1975.
