A Memory
by Anna Dodson
September 28, 2009

An eagle
Its wings stretched toward the sky
Longing for adventure
Soaring with the wind
Fighting for a home
Protecting me

An oak tree
Lush in spring
Blooming beautifully in summer
Fiery courage in autumn
Enjoy it while it’s there
Because in winter
The leaves fall down
One by one
Until there is nothing left
Say your goodbyes

I miss you now
And I’ll never forget you
Please
Don’t forget me
And don’t worry
Because just like the birds and the trees
You’ll always be there
With your beautiful eyes
A memory forever
