Jumping Shallow Streams
by Robin Attey
February 15, 2011
I’m not just like you
I’m okay with that
I might not have all that you do
But that doesn’t mean I am trash
I am not perfect
No one really is
Even though I am not the best
At everything, I can have bliss
You can show off your
Money all you want
I’ll sit by the sparkling shore
I don’t care how much you might taunt
I have something that
You will never know
It’s not fancy clothes or a hat
It’s inside; it just goes to show
You can play around
With your pristine hair
Straight and parted, without a doubt
Amazing; too bad no one cares
Your clothes looking like
They’re new everyday
Your three foot heels, great for a hike
And your magazine ready face
The fiery sun beams
On your flawless face
As you walk, you flow like a stream
Forever in a shallow state
I’m not defined by
My glitter and glam
It’s about how I live my life
Just letting you know that I am
Perfectly happy
With the plain old me
Because that’s all I’ll ever be
I am special, just wait and see
