Lonely
by Hayle Meyerhoff
December 14, 2009

I stand in a corner
watching her walk away
laughing
oblivious to my emotions
     to me
the outside world                      nothing
only her little box of happiness in a huge world of failure
She turns
and I try to smile
She taps one of her friends on the shoulder and points at me
whispering something in her friend’s ear
something about me
I know it isn’t good
Her friends move away
and she follows
still     in her own perfect world
The world that only her friends know
     that will never include     me
