Unfolding
by Dakota King
April 20, 2010

Flowers blooming like rainbows on a confused day
Cold sprinkler water beginning to spray
The musty smell of hot sidewalks burning my bare feet
Seasons changing, the earth’s eternal beat
An orchestra of harmonically chirping birds
The rhythmic pattern of poetic words
Eyes waking to an orange glow
Soon the lawn, we’ll have to mow
The days grow to the length of each ray of sun
Evenings become infinitely fun
Skin soaking in the warmth as if it is an ocean’s tide
The perfect day for a pony ride
Thoughts turning out of doors
Sorting and cleaning spring chores
Many games for the playing
On the grass are bodies laying
Soil somersaulting around wriggling worms
All because the earth it turns
Life moving rapidly like molecules of water boiling
Snakes coming out from their coiling
A beginning as fresh as glacial melts
Animals shedding their winter pelts
A new pad of paper
A story yet to be told
Spring a tale ready to unfold
