Mistake
by Soren Anderson
March 2, 2010
The warrior sweats and tangled hair
Covers his face as he stands there
His mind is bathed in slow black fear
He knows his destiny waits so near
The choice is his, what path will he choose
One way he’ll win, the other he’ll lose.
This is no game that starts over again
He murmurs a prayer then he says amen.
He rushes forward, a price he’ll pay
A wise choice if you must save the day
Slashing through with every ounce of power
Past the armies that have trained for hours
Through the doors of the kingdom hall
Killing the lord, causing the kingdom’s fall
But the warrior realized at this time
The emperor had committed no crime
The people of the brave knight’s village
Loathed his laws and wanted the lord to die in pillage
So they sent the knight to hurl the king’s rule to an end
But still there was no crime the knight could comprehend
He fell to his knees on the rock hard ground
Through the whole dead space it was the only sound
He wept because to his demise
He realized he had been unwise
He knew that then had been his greatest mistake
It was too much for him to intake
So he sat on the ground ashamed of himself
And wasted the rest of his life like a book on the shelf
You see now that it is not truly good
To do a bad task, if you could
Because you knew that it was dumb
You wish you had used some common wisdom.
