Wizard
(Ged in A Wizard of Earthsea)
by Rowan Treece
September 26, 2012

Their laughing faces turn and
disappear like mirages
into the dark alley
swiftly as they came

I still can hear the voices
intermixed with chuckles and
calling of my name

I close my eyes
shudder
as I shake with rage
and shame.

Cruel faces
still etched upon my lids
I must remind myself
that we are only kids.

But I am more
than ever before

They are weak
I am strong
and I know
it will not take long

To learn to harness my power
to crush them all
with a subtle glower

For though I am weak
and I am small
I am the greatest wizard
of them all.
