The eight Grade Visual Arts rotation focus is on Art History and studio techniques. The rotation has four components: 1.) Research, 2.) Creating an artwork in the style of an artist or period of art, 3.) Creating a mural square design problem and 4.) Creating an autobiographical self-portrait. The first several days, students utilize web sites, books of major museums and individual artists. They discover when artists lived, how they worked, and the influence becomes a different challenge because students are to incorporate elements of their lives and not create a representational portrait.
Throughout this rotation eight graders created and utilized blogs. In the blogs students described techniques, and reflected on the creative process.Below you will see selected works by students.
