Summer Beehive

Summer Beehive (Session 2)

Ages: 4 to 5
Hours: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm | price: $305
Leader: CGS Staff | email: summerbeehive@catlin.edu

Participants will enjoy the wonderful teachers and activities in woodworking, imaginative play, and studio art stations. The magic begins in the Beehive building, and our time together is flexible for exploring and playing on Catlin Gabel's beautiful 67-acre campus. Dive into the imaginative, process-oriented world of play through stories, songs, art, and games. Construct with an open-ended use of mixed media both inside the classrooms and outside under the trees. We will make art using lots of cardboard, tape, scissors, glue, paint, fabric, feathers, and clay. Everyone will build in the woodshop with real hand-powered tools, take apart electronics, and rebuild their own 3-D inventions. We'll also have fun with familiar activities such as running through sprinklers on hot days, making snacks with delicious recipes, and constructing environments in the sandbox. We'll gather each day to enjoy friendship, stories, and a lunch from home. Each session will include exploration, experimentation, and creation. Come learn, play, and have fun with us!

What to bring:

  • A nutritious and delicious lunch.
  • A snack for snack time.
  • A refillable water bottle.
  • Closed-toe shoes (we’re often on the move hiking our forested campus and working with real, sometimes sharp tools).
  • Comfortable play clothes. (Don’t be afraid to express yourself with paint, water and dirt!)
  • Sunscreen already applied for the day. (Send extra if your child has sensitive skin).
