So I just came back from my fourth day at the film center and I am having a blast. I'll talk about my first couple of days. The first day I didn't do much ,Brian (my mentor) pretty much just showed me the basics, taught me how to prep some stuff and introduced me around. I got to prep a DVX camera and a super 8 camera. The second day I helped set up some class rooms with a staff member named Jesse. We also ended up having a long conversation about Godard among other things which was fun. I also got to learn how to use an old 16 mm camera which are hard to come by these days. Yesterday It was pretty much just me Brian and another intern. He taught me some of the basics of FinalCut Pro and I got to edit some old archives of the tv show GunSmoke which was cool. I also set up some classrooms and loaded some DVX footage from one of the classes. Today I mainly logged and captured video footage. I had some great conversations with some of the other interns, one of whom I found to be an avid wu-tang fan. We listened to some good music and basically just hung out.

Dre: Gunsmoke, eh? Back in

Dre:
Gunsmoke, eh? Back in my pre-teens, I never missed an episode. I still remember that it came on every Saturday night at 9:00! I can't imagine what it would seem like now to see it in 2010. I also remember when we got our first super 8 camera my senior year in college and took it to Russia in the spring of 1969. We still have the films of that trip. I'm delighted you're having such a great time. I'd love to hear more news from the archives! Great to hear from you,Dre.

Sounds like fun--I'm jealous

Draye: Glad to hear you're getting your hands dirty. "Gunsmoke" was a great show that ran for 20 years: \http://www.museum.tv/eotvsection.php?entrycode=gunsmoke.

Anyway, keep writing and let us know what you're thinking about as you get further in.

Do you get to talk about movies?

Oh yes, pretty much all day

Hi Dre:
I'm checking in for the first time, and I can't wait to hear further details on what you're doing! I hope your time feels as productive and useful as we hoped, and that your days in the archives are something to look forward to. Keep on keepin' on, and we'll stay in touch.
